Ricoh Co. Ltd. has today announced a new firmware release for the ruggedized Ricoh PX compact camera, which was first announced last June. The Ricoh PX couples a 16 megapixel CCD image sensor and Smooth Imaging Engine IV image processor with a 28-140mm equivalent, Ricoh branded 5x optical zoom lens. The PX's body is dustproof, waterproof to three meters, and impact resistant to 1.5 meters, and a silicone jacket is included that provides further protection against drops and scratches.
