Panasonic has today announced its new Lumix FZ100 digital camera, its first hybrid compact model to be based around a MOS image sensor. The Panasonic Lumix FZ100 couples its 1/2.33-inch MOS sensor with 14.1 megapixel resolution to a Leica DC Vario-Elmarit-branded 24x optical zoom lens. The FZ100's lens has a useful 25mm wide angle, and a maximum aperture of f/2.8 to f/5.2 across the zoom range, as well as Power O.I.S. image stabilization.
