Japan's Nikon Corp., whose factory in Sendai was damaged by the recent Thoku earthquake and tsunami that devastated Japan's eastern coast, is transferring manufacture of body mounts for its single-lens reflex digital cameras to Malaysia's Notion VTec Berhad, according to a report on the website of The Edge, a Malaysian financial weekly. The report, mirrored by a document on Notion VTec's own site, states that the Malaysian company will be supplied with raw materials from Nikon, from which it will create body mounts using its own jigs, fixtures, and CNC machines.
