Energizer Duo charger security exploit discovered

Energizer Holdings Inc. and the Department of Homeland Security's United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team have jointly announced the discovery of a security exploit in the company's Duo charger software distribution. According to US-CERT, the application - which provides an indication of battery charge level on an attached PC - includes a backdoor that listens for incoming connections on TCP port 777. Once connected, a remote computer can access files and directories or execute programs without the local user's knowledge or authorization.

Its image stabiliser has been upgraded to a new POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabiliser) with twice the steadiness of previous systems.

Panasonic G10: Lightest interchangeable-lens digicam with viewfinder

Alongside its more feature-rich sibling the G2, Panasonic has today revealed a second new camera for the Japanese CP+ tradeshow, the Panasonic G10. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-G10 is billed as being the lightest interchangeable-lens digital camera to feature a viewfinder, and manages to include much of the Panasonic G2's feature set despite its lightweight body.

Panasonic G2: Tilt-swivel, touch-screen Micro Four Thirds

In the runup to the Japanese CP+ tradeshow, Panasonic has revealed a a replacement for the company's existing Micro Four-Thirds DMC-G1 digital camera, the Panasonic G2. The most notable feature of the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G2 is its 3.0" tilt/swivel liquid crystal display, which includes a touch panel through which functions including autofocus and even shutter release can be controlled. The Panasonic Lumix G2 also provides an electronic viewfinder with extremely high 1,440,000 dots resolution.
