Sigma Corp. has today announced pricing and availability for its APO 50-500mm F4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM lens, an optically stabilized version of the existing lens that's affectionately known by many photographers as the "Bigma". Available immediately for purchase in its Canon mount variant, the APO 50-500mm F4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM carries MSRP pricing of $2,400. A Nikon-mount variant will follow later this month, while Sigma, Pentax and Sony-mount variants will arrive in April.

Japan's Sigma Corp will soon release firmware version 1.04 for the Sigma DP2 compact digital camera, which is based on a Foveon X3 image sensor. Closely related to the company's existing DP1 model, the Sigma DP2 is based around a 0.98" diagonal Foven X3 image sensor, which has an effective resolution of 4.64 megapixels with full color measured at every pixel location. The sensor sits behind a 41mm equivalent fixed focal length Sigma lens, and offers ISO sensitivity from 50 to 1,600 equivalents.

Barely had we reported on Canon Inc.'s withdrawal of its recent 2.0.3 firmware release for the EOS 5D Mark II digital SLR, the company has already published its replacement 2.0.4 version. A problem in the previous version manifested itself when the 5D Mark II was set to the C1, C2 or C3 positions on the mode dial, with manual audio recording and the levels changed. If then power-cycled or automatically powered off, the camera was no longer able to record audio.
