In the company's official forums, Adobe senior computer scientist Eric Chan has posted two new beta profiles for the Nikon D3 and D700 digital SLRs. The beta profiles are intended to reduce banding and highlight color artifacts that appear in some images processed using Adobe Camera Raw and Lightroom. They're a work in progress, with feedback being actively solicited in the Adobe forums. Users should note that as compared to earlier profiles, the new betas may appear to produce images with slightly brighter highlights.

Apple has released an update to its flagship imaging application, Aperture 3, which adds support for its upcoming iPad tablet computer and corrects a number of bugs in the previous release. Japan's Sigma Corp has now released firmware version 1.04 for the Sigma DP2 compact digital camera, an update the company promised last week. Closely related to the company's existing DP1 model, the Sigma DP2 is based around a 0.98" diagonal Foveon X3 image sensor, which has an effective resolution of 4.64 megapixels with full color measured at every pixel location.
